Legislative Audit Committee Recommends Improvements for State Veterans’ Homes, State Public Defender

The Legislative Audit Committee met June 19 in Helena to review 10 recent audits of state agencies and programs. Audit findings are described here.

The audit recommends that the Legislature review the current allocation process and determine whether it should be addressed in statute. The audit also recommends that the Department of Public Health and Human Services comply with the statutorily prescribed rate calculations for the facilities and implement a cost-containment plan for the Montana Veterans’ Homes that reduces expenses.
