For counties looking to provide board education/instruction, the LGC offers a “Board Leadership” training for all public board members (city, county and special districts).  The session is typically two to four hours and and can be presented during the day or in the evening.

During this short time, the LGC will cover the following topics:  Principles of Good Governance, Roles and Responsibilities of Boards, Members/Trustees, MT Open Meeting Laws, MT Citizens Right to Participate Laws, Executive Session or Closing a Meeting, Board Member Liability,  Effective Meetings, Meeting Agendas and Managing, Public Comment, Montana’s Code of Ethics, and Meeting Minutes.
