Inflation Factor for Mill Levy Calculation for FY 2013

The inflation factor for FY 2013 is 1.20%.  Per 15-10-420, MCA, “a governmental entity that is authorized to impose mills may impose a mill levy sufficient to generate the amount of property taxes actually assessed in the prior year plus one-half of the average rate of inflation for the prior 3 years.”

The Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 as reauthorized in Public Law 110-343, requires each county that receives funds under Title III of the Act to submit an annual certification that the funds have been expended for the uses authorized under section 302(a) of the Act.

Montana Counties and Local NGOS to Review MSTI

Virginia City, Montana  - Two Montana counties and five local non-governmental organizations today launched an independent review to better evaluate the possible effects of the Mountain States Transmission Intertie (MSTI) line on local communities in Montana and Idaho. The MSTI Review Project believes that it is essential to work together to protect rural lifestyles, private property, and the natural environment. To that end, the project is providing an independent analysis and outreach to affected MSTI counties that will ultimately lead to better planning outcomes from a variety of perspectives that are often seen as mutually exclusive.
