The National Association of Counties (NACo) Community, Economic and Workforce Development (CEWD) Committee met off site at the Boulder Highway Collaborative Campus for the first meeting. The Boulder Highway Campus is an innovative and affordable housing site created in partnership with NV HAND, Clark County, the Boys & Girls Club and the Lutheran Social Services of Southern Nevada. It highlighted the collaborative efforts to address affordable & workforce housing.

In the afternoon business meeting, we dealt with and approved 14 proposed resolutions. All of these resolutions were previously debated during the monthly conference calls so there was very little controversy during the business meeting.

We also had an excellent presentation from Scott Turner on Opportunity Zones. Scott Turner was appointed by President Trump to help develop these economic development projects across the nation.

Scott is an ex NFL Cornerback at 5’10” and 180 lbs. He was drafted in the 7th round by the Washington Redskins in 1995. He also played for the San Diego Chargers and the Denver Broncos and retired in 2003.

Scott is an extremely talented speaker and is well suited for this job in the White House.

I also attended by Audit / Finance Committee meeting and met twice as NACo Board of Directors.

I thank all of MACo for allowing me to serve on NACo’s CEWD Committee and also on NACo Board of Directors.
