Briggs Elected NACo West Region Representative
WASHINGTON – At the National Association of Counties (NACo) 84th Annual Conference and Exposition, Cascade County, Mont. Commissioner Joe Briggs was elected to serve on NACo’s Executive Committee as the West region representative.
“It is a tremendous honor to be elected by my peers to represent counties throughout the Western United States,” said Briggs. “This position also gives Cascade County a prominent seat at the national table when it comes to issues important to our residents, like federal regulations, transportation, broadband infrastructure, public safety and land use.”
During Briggs’ two-year term, he will help steer the overall direction of the association in concert with its Board of Directors. NACo’s West region includes counties in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
“NACo is our county seat in Washington. I look forward to representing Western counties and helping to lead NACo to the next level,” added Briggs.
Active in NACo for several years, Briggs has served on its Board of Directors, Telecommunications and Technology Policy Committee, Information Technology Committee, Veteran’s and Military Services Committee and Rural Action Caucus.
NACo’s Annual Conference, held in Clark County, Nev., July 12-15, attracted nearly 3,000 county government leaders from across the country.
