Nearly $2.4 million on its way to Montana

(HELENA)—Attorney General Tim Fox announced today that the U.S. Department of the Interior has reversed its decision to withhold Mineral Leasing Act Revenue from the States.  Earlier this month, Attorney General Fox  joined nine other western states protesting the sequestration of state funds under the Mineral Leasing Act (MLA).

Friday, July 27, 2012, the Forest Service received the Secretary of Agriculture’s affirmative decision to deem the existing resource advisory committees authorized under PL 110-343 to be committees for the purposes of title II in the re-authorized Act (PL 112-141) and to approve the current charter and the members in good standing for the purposes of the re-authorized Act.

The Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 as reauthorized in Public Law 110-343, requires each county that receives funds under Title III of the Act to submit an annual certification that the funds have been expended for the uses authorized under section 302(a) of the Act.
