NACo Rural Road Safety Network

The Rural Road Safety Network is a part of the NACo Rural Roads Safety project funded through FHWA/Office of Road Safety and conducted in partnership the National Association of County Engineers. The Rural Road Safety Network provides an opportunity for county staff and elected officials to share experiences with their peers related to increasing roadway safety, often through low-cost safety measures, and increasing public awareness of safety issues within the local community and political system.

Online Game Will Let Students ‘Run Their Own County’

Salazar Announces $37.4 Million for State and Local Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Projects

WASHINGTON DC - Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar today announced $37.4 million from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) in state grants to establish and renovate parks and open spaces throughout the 50 States, the Territories and the District of Columbia for Fiscal Year 2011. LWCF state grant funds are awarded through Federal matching grants that leverage public and private investment in America’s state and local public outdoor recreation.

WASHINGTON, DC – Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced today that more than 1,850 local governments around the nation will receive payments totaling $375.2 million under the Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program this year to compensate them for non-taxable federal land in their jurisdictions.
