The Montana Department of Revenue has completed our 2015 classification and appraisal notice mailing to property owners across the state.

We mailed 46,239 mobile home, 23,752 personal property and 604,749 real property assessment notices. The link above (and below) is a document detailing the notice dates for each property type per county.

Property owners that filed a Form AB-26 or formal appeal within 30 days from the date on their notice that results in a classification or valuation adjustment, the adjustment will apply to tax years 2015 and 2016. An informal review or formal appeal, filed after 30 days from the date on the notice that results in a classification and valuation adjustment, the adjustment will apply only to tax year 2016.

The date on original or revised notices generated and mailed from the local Department of Revenue offices varies depending upon the creation date of the notice.

The department strives to provide timely classification and appraisal notices to property taxpayers and to assist you in your annual planning and budgeting efforts.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
