Posted Date:
April 25, 2012

The EQC has just published updated copies of two of its citizens guides.

Water Rights in Montana explores Montanans' right to use water. The handbook explains water rights adjudication, the process for new water appropriations, and changing a water right. Among other topics, the handbook discusses regulations related to distribution of water and how controlled groundwater areas and closed basins affect one's use of water.

A Guide to Montana Water Quality Regulation delves into water quality standards required under the federal Clean Water Act and the state Water Quality Act, including permitting, compliance, and enforcement. It also explains the use of water quality assessments for state waters, such as the development of total maximum daily loads for threatened or impaired water bodies.

Adobe PDF versions of the handbooks can be accessed at the links above, or reply to this email and include a name and address or call 444-3742 if you would like to receive a paper copy.
