Draft Environmental Assessment on Potential Interim Locations for Brucellosis-Free Bison

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) invites the public to comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) on the evaluation of potential interim locations for the placement of brucellosis-free bison. The interim locations evaluated include: FWP’s Marias River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and Spotted Dog WMA, tribal lands on the Fort Peck and Fort Belknap Reservations, the Green Ranch (Bozeman), and the Slip ‘n Slide pastures (Corwin Springs).

Virginia City, Montana  - Two Montana counties and five local non-governmental organizations today launched an independent review to better evaluate the possible effects of the Mountain States Transmission Intertie (MSTI) line on local communities in Montana and Idaho. The MSTI Review Project believes that it is essential to work together to protect rural lifestyles, private property, and the natural environment. To that end, the project is providing an independent analysis and outreach to affected MSTI counties that will ultimately lead to better planning outcomes from a variety of perspectives that are often seen as mutually exclusive.

This proclamation affects all State lands and private forested lands lying within the boundaries of State lands and private forested lands lying within the boundaries of Granite County excluding that part lying in the Beaverhead – Deer Lodge National Forest; Mineral County; Missoula County excluding that part north of Summit Lake; Powell County excluding that portion lying in the Flathead NF and Helena NF; Ravalli County; those parts of Lake County and Flathead County lying within the Flathead Indian Reservation; and that portion of Sanders County lying outside the Kootenai National Forest.. The rescinding of the Stage 1 Restrictions is effective as of 0001 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time, Wednesday, September 21, 2011.
