Update on CARES Act Reimbursements

On May 29th, MACo and the Local Government Center hosted a virtual “townhall” to provide Montana’s counties with a venue and opportunity to share and learn from the situations and best practices in counties around the state as well as receive pertinent updates during this unprecedented time. The third session in our series focused on CARES Act Reimbursements, with reports from MACo Staff regarding local government COVID-19 related expenses and how those costs may be reimbursed via the program created from the CARES Act dollars that Montana received.

Millions Available in Emergency Grants Via Montana Programs

The state has created a single application portal for emergency grants funded through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which provided Montana with $1.25 billion for COVID-19 related expenses. The state is also providing some additional support for destination communities as Summer tourism begins to heat, up and we enter Phase 2 of Montana’s reopening.

CISA, IRS, USSS, and Treasury Release Joint Alert on Scams Related to COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and the United States Secret Service (USSS) urge all Americans to be on the lookout for criminal fraud related to these economic impact payments—particularly fraud using coronavirus lures to steal personal and financial information, as well as the economic impact payments themselves—and for adversaries seeking to disrupt payment efforts.
