TSEP Application Deadline Extended

Due to the repercussions of COVID-19, the Montana Department of Commerce has received many public comments expressing concern over the May 1, 2020 TSEP Construction application deadline. Commerce has: (1) extended the application deadline to June 12, 2020; and (2) will allow TSEP Construction Application public meeting documentation to be submitted any time up until August 3, 2020.

Livestock Loss Board Loss Prevention Grants

Apply now for livestock loss prevention grants. The Livestock Loss Board has $80,000 available for wolf only loss prevention projects. Limited money will be available for grizzly bear loss prevention projects. Applications are available at www.llb.mt.gov  or by calling the Livestock Loss Board Office. The deadline for applications is June 30, 2020. All projects must be for loss prevention for the following animals: cattle, sheep, horses, mules, goats, swine or llamas. Other animals such as chickens or bison are not eligible for our loss prevention grant funds. Also agricultural crop damage prevention is not covered.

Second Opportunity for Mobile Crisis Unit Grant

The Department of Public Health and Human Services, Addictive and Mental Disorders Division (AMDD), recently released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Mobile Crisis Unit Grant; however, the the total appropriation during the initial RFP was not expended, so the Department is now seeking to re-release the Mobile Crisis Unit Grant to provide an additional opportunity for communities to access funding for critical crisis and diversion services.

AMDD Announces Spring 2020 Crisis Matching Grant Opportunity

AMDD will rerelease the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the County and Tribal Matching Grant and Mobile Crisis Unit Program in early Spring 2020. This will provide an opportunity for additional communities to access funding for critical crisis and diversion services. AMDD intends to release the RFP on April 1st for a one year contract beginning on July 1st, 2020 and ending on June 20th, 2021.

2020 HAVA Grants

On December 20, 2019, President Donald J. Trump signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2020 into law. The Act includes $425 million in new Help America Vote Act (HAVA) funds, made available to states to improve the administration of elections for Federal office, including to enhance technology and make election security improvements. The 2020 HAVA Election Security Fund, authorized under Title I Section 101 of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002, marks the second new appropriations for HAVA grants since FY2010. This funding will provide states with additional resources to secure and improve election administration.  The appropriated amount to Montana is $3,127,978.

County & Tribal Crisis Matching Grants & Mobile Crisis Unit Programs

Since 2009, a County Matching Grant program has been in place to address the critical need for crisis intervention and jail diversion in Montana communities.  Through House Bill 328, the 2017 Montana Legislature revised the statute to offer the matching grant fund opportunity to federally recognized tribal governments. Innovative local crisis services are needed to effectively respond to acute mental health crises to prevent unnecessary restrictive placements such as incarceration or Montana State Hospital.
