The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is rapidly deploying a grant portal to award Better Local Bridge (BLB) funds for off-system bridge repairs. The BLB Administrative Rules were recently developed, and it was determined there is an opportunity to award up to $3 million to communities this grant cycle if we move quickly. The timeline is tight, but MDT has streamlined the application process to help meet the obligation deadline.
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT), in partnership with the Montana Association of Counties (MACo), continues to support county bridge priorities using the remaining Senate Bill (SB) 536 funds. Nearly all of the original $80 million has now been committed through the Off-System Bridge Strike Team, and only limited funding remains. To ensure fair distribution and direct support toward the most urgent needs, MDT is limiting assistance to no more than $75,000 per bridge.

DNRC Reclamation and Development Grants Program (RDGP) is now accepting applications for RDGP Planning Grants to fund planning and assessment for natural resource projects. Up to $50,000 is available per planning project to any city, county, Tribe, conservation district or other local government subdivision in Montana.
The DNRC Renewable Resource Grant and Loan Program (RRGL) is accepting planning grant applications. Planning grants are available to government entities for planning activities which lead to an RRGL program project application to conserve, manage, develop or protect a renewable resource in Montana.
