Gordon Oelkers grew up in Roosevelt County and currently resides in Culbertson, Montana. His parents, Russell and Lorraine, raised him and five siblings while operating a two-bay gas station known as Oelkers Service Center.
Gordon earned a bachelor’s degree in business marketing from Montana State University and spent five years in retail in Denver Colorado. In 1989, he returned to Roosevelt County and owned and operated Oelkers Service Center with his brother while serving as Mayor of Culbertson for eighteen years.
Currently, Gordon is serving his second term as Roosevelt County Commissioner from 2017 to the present. He lives in Culbertson MT with his wife, Ardis Oelkers, who is the Roosevelt County Extension Agent. The couple has three grown children whom they are immensely proud of for their accomplishments.
Gordon has actively participated in various community activities and serves as the president of Trinity Lutheran Church council for the past 30 years. Additionally, he coached basketball for 18 years.
