Position Description

Summary

Fallon County is seeking to hire a Road Supervisor. This position plans, organizes, and directs all aspects of road and bridge development and subsequent maintenance within the County to provide safe roadways. The Road Superintendent is the department head for the Road Department under the direct supervision of the Fallon County Commission. The Road Department repairs and maintains roads in Fallon County. This is a full-time, permanent, fifty (50) hours a week position, which includes ten (10) hours of overtime.

Required Education and Experience:

Employment with Fallon County requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in road maintenance and repair that involved operation of various types of heavy equipment plus two years of supervisor responsibility are required. An associate’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited college or university with major course work in heavy equipment maintenance and operation, construction technology, or a related field is also required. Two or more additional years of experience described above may be substituted for an associate’s degree.

Must possess a valid Montana Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a current medical examiner’s certificate. Must obtain Montana Underground Storage Tank Certifications for Class A and Class B Operator within ninety (90) days of hire.

Preferred Education and Experience:

OSHA 10 certification is preferred.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug and Alcohol Clearing house:

Fallon County is committed to adhering with all Federal and State statutes and regulations; we have therefore registered as an employer with the FMCSA Commercial Driver’s License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse). In fulfilling our requirements as an employer, all applicants whose position requires a Commercial Driver License (CDL) must be a registered driver in the Clearinghouse and consent to a pre-employment query of the Clearinghouse.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

This position requires a Montana Class A Commercial Driver License and is subject to pre-employment controlled substance testing and a motor vehicle driving history review. Upon employment, this position will undergo random, on-going alcohol and controlled substance testing and an annual motor vehicle driving history review.
