Position Description
Summary
Missoula Rural Fire District is seeking to hire a Human Resource Director. The Human Resource (HR) Director plans, leads, directs, develops, trains, and coordinates the HR functions and activities of the MRFD to ensure legal compliance and implementation of the MRFD’s mission and goals. The HR Director provides leadership and oversight for development, implementation, and administration in the areas of compensation, benefits, leave, labor relations, staffing, recruitment, retention and organizational policies and procedures and assists in the implementation, management and auditing of HR programs and systems.
MRFD is in picturesque Western Montana and proudly serves a population of more than 38,000. MRFD is a full-service fire department covering over 84 square miles in Missoula County. There are currently five fire stations that operate 24 hours a day. MRFD employs a Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, and five civilian positions. Operations include 54 career firefighters who work a 24/48 schedule. MRFD is also supported by up to 15 volunteer firefighters.
