The new annual 9-1-1 Grant Program (beginning in state fiscal year 2019) is a state-funded program created by the 2017 Legislature with the purpose of to supporting the implementation, operation, and maintenance of 9-1-1 systems, equipment, devices, and data.
The bill that initiated the 911 Grant Program was House Bill 61 (2017), which was sponsored by Representative Frank Garner. HB 61 provided for at least $6.8 million in funding for the award of 9-1-1 grants by the Department of Administration in state fiscal year 2019. The Department, in consultation with the 9-1-1 Advisory Council, must award the competitive grants annually. The next cycle will begin in the fall.
