Does an energy company want to lease your property? Will a standard lease protect your property rights? Producers in eastern and northern Montana weren’t so sure. They formed a cooperative and hired an attorney. This strategy gave them a lot of clout when negotiating with the oil/gas company’s representative. Their experience can help you understand and negotiate equitable surface agreements with wind, solar, utility, and gas/oil easements on your land.
Montana DNRC’s Energy Summit (Things to Know Before You Sign a Surface Agreement) will take place February 13, 2020 at the Billings Hotel and Convention Center. The summit was designed for farmers and ranchers to help them understand their property rights and land reclamation options when negotiating surface agreements with oil/gas, wind, solar, or utility companies.
If you as an attendee, will register with a check, make sure each of you complete separate forms.
