On March 24th, Governor Bullock announced measures to give local governments the flexibility needed to adhere to social distancing guidelines in order to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19). MACo diligently worked with the Governor’s Office on the Directive, which you will find linked below. Please review it thoroughly. Some important sections include the following:
- Suspends certain office-hour requirements in state law to allow for limited closures where local governments cannot safely operate within social distancing guidelines. (Note: it does not allow suspension of hours for offices that are required to maintain public health and safety.)
- Allows local governments flexibility to set human resources policies that best support health-affected local government employees.
- Grants suspension of certain statutory deadlines during the emergency.
